Peter Boyd, President of Boyd Construction Company, is a 4th generation certified general contractor. Vincent R. Boyd, Sr. or 'Doc' Boyd started Boyd Construction Company in Hobart, Indiana in 1911. In the early years, Doc helped Northwest Indiana grow to be what it is today. In his early teens, Doc's son Vincent R. Boyd, Jr. 'Bud' came to work operating crews, and laying sewers. In 1929 Doc engineered and constructed the Lake George Dam, which is still in use today. A majority of all the sewers in Hobart & Lake Station, Indiana were completed by Boyd Construction. Boyd Construction did a majority of the water works in Portage, Indiana. Bud's son Richard A. Boyd continues to own and operate Boyd Construction Company in Hobart.

During the 1980's Boyd Construction Company operated in two locations, one in Florida, and the original location in Indiana. In the latter 1980's Richard closed the doors in the Florida office to focus on the economic boom of the Midwest. Richard has built Boyd Construction Company in Indiana as a highly respected and reputable company, serving clients such as the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, AT&T, GTE, Verizon of Wisconsin and Indiana, Indiana American Water Company, Ameritech, Sherwood Forest, Sedona, Sand Creek Developments, Arbors, Barrington Ridge, Pine Village, Walt Disney World Buena Vista Construction, General Development (FL), City of Lakeland, White River Environmental, CH2M.hill, Flor/Daniels, Westfield Shopping Town.

After Richard's son, Peter S. Boyd, received his Certified General Contractor's License in the State of Florida, he decided to move to the Tampa Bay area where he started Boyd Construction Company. As a 4th generation contractor, Peter has an emphasis on client dedication, just as his family has for over a hundred years.
